A life dedicated to community service

Pat Daley has served the community for over 40 years in the NSW Police, The Salvation Army and as an elected Councillor.

Pat and his family have lived on Sydney’s Northern Beaches for over 40 years. He is the only person who has served on both Manly and Warringah Councils. In September 2017 after the amalgamation of Manly, Warringah and Pittwater councils Pat was elected to Northern Beaches Council where he served until November 2021.

As Deputy Chief of the NSW Police Crime Prevention section, Pat co-founded the highly successful Neighbourhood Watch program. He also played a key role in establishing the first Media Liaison Unit and became well known for his work in bringing the police and the community together.

As Media Director for The Salvation Army, Pat implemented major community awareness campaigns regarding drug and alcohol abuse and problem gambling.

Pat is the author of the best-selling Neighbourhood Crime Prevention Handbook published by Angus & Robertson.

Amongst his national community involvement, Pat has served on the Federal Management Committee of NAPCAN (National Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect) and ANACAD (Australian National Advisory Council on Alcohol and Drugs)

Currently Pat is assisting community groups establish  strategies and programs which support seniors.

For his service to the community, Pat has been awarded the OAM (Medal of the Order of Australia), the Centenary Medal and the National Police Medal.
